Storage Heaven: Closets, Pantries, & Storage That Fits Your Lifestyle

One of the biggest perks of building a luxury custom home is the opportunity to design your storage spaces the way they will best work for your family.  Homes by Chris allows you the opportunity to walk through your home with the trim carpenter and make notes on each and every closet space.  This is *not* what all builders do; it’s what we do.

Most people build their custom homes to fit their lives, not fit their lives into their homes.  Think about all of the storage spaces in your home and how they can best serve you!

  1. Pantry
  2. Coat/entry closet
  3. Drop zone
  4. Laundry
  5. Master closet
  6. Office area
  7. Hallway/linen closet
  8. Basement storage space

How are you going to make these spaces work for you?  Our most recent homeowners went and pre-purchased storage totes and cubbies for each child’s bedroom.  At the trim walkthrough, the couple was able to use those totes for measurements and to build storage accordingly.  How smart was that??  Make your home work for YOU!

One area which often leaves families of any size struggling is with this item:  shoes.

Shoes are here.

Shoes are there.

When you’re building your home, plan ahead for where you’re going to want to store shoes, whether it’s on the first floor, the master closet, or the closets in the other bedrooms.  Here are a few of our favorite spaces for storing shoes.  Hopefully they inspire you to think about how you can best accommodate one of the most fun things to buy….and buy….and buy….without having to worry about how to make them all look good in your new custom home!
